The pace of development accelerates at the burgeoning Surprise City Center as planners weigh a plan to build a nearly 83,000-square-foot professional sports housing facility.

The Surprise Planning & Zoning Commission will consider a site plan approval for a Texas Rangers housing project at the panel’s regular meeting 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.

Located north of Greenway Road on Bullard Avenue, the proposed buildings will rise on 3.07 acres of undeveloped desert in the City Center, directly across the street from the Rangers practice fields.

The 82,899-square-foot, three-story project is comprised of two buildings, including: a housing facility first floor of 30,636 square feet; a second floor of 21,867 square feet; a third floor of 17,636 square feet; and a separate sports lab building of 12,760 square feet.
