Patrick M. Jones
Patrick M. Jones is licensed in Illinois and Arizona and practices in Chicago, Ill. and Phoenix, Ariz. With more than 25 years of experience, Patrick’s practice focuses on working proactively and collaboratively with businesses and individuals around the world to assure clients benefit from his passion for improving legal processes to avoid and disputes, minimize risk, and maximize asset values, especially in the area of intellectual property rights. Patrick focuses on adding value to clients and minimizing time and expense spent on legal disputes.
Patrick was an adjunct professor at DePaul University College of Law for more than a decade teaching courses on international law and international aviation law, which led to opportunities to lead future lawyers in legal competitions in foreign cities, like Shanghai, Bucharest, Singapore, Jakarta, Beijing, Malta, and Hong Kong. These travels led to the development of friendships and clients around the world, including many friends in Southeast Asia, South America, Europe, and Australia.
“Growing up in Lawton, Oklahoma, I never dreamed that I would someday have friends – let alone clients – on every continent, except Antarctica,” said Patrick. “And, I am working on Antarctica.”
As a young lawyer Patrick’s practice focused on corporate restructuring and commercial litigation. Over the past ten years, Patrick’s practice now focused on intellectual property litigation where he represents plaintiffs and defendants in trademark and copyright disputes. “The internet and AI have made counterfeiting easier and more effective,” said Patrick. “I take great pride in helping entrepreneurs protect their IP, often at a profit even after legal fees, as well as assisting companies who have been wrongfully accused of infringement.”
Notable representations include :
- Lead counsel in Teddy Stratford Apparel LLC, et al. v. the Defendants listed on Schedule A, including more than 182 infringers of Plaintiffs’ trademark, copyright, and patent rights pending in the N.D. Ill.;
- Lead counsel in In re: Boeing 737 Max Pilots Litigation, representing more than 6,000 pilots and pending before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals; and
- Co-counsel with Hanoi-based REFINY Law Firm and lead trial counsel in more than a dozen trademark and copyright infringement cases resolved and pending in the N.D. Ill.
Patrick is a (very) former 3X Ironman finisher. He currently focuses his energy as an artist, using acrylics to create images that (hopefully) elevate reality.
