The Peoria City Council unanimously approved a multi family rezoning for the residential development Camino a Lago last night.
WM Grace was the applicant and owner of the 12 acre site. MC Companies is the multi-family developer who will build, own and operate “The Place at Camino A Lago.”
The rezoning process started two years ago with a major general plan amendment that was approved by the City of Peoria voters in November 2020.
Dozens of residential neighbors participated in the process and Grace worked diligently with them and Vice Mayor Edwards to refine the project.
Peoria Planning Director Chris Jacques suggested in the staff report this site would benefit from a “stop and stay” use that will allow for multi-family residents to walk to amenities. The site is currently home to Walmart, a craft brewery, etc.
Grace is also constructing an EOS Fitness on the site, which came because of the multi-family. Jordan Rose of Rose Law Group served as the zoning attorney and Jennifer Hall of Rose Law Group served as the planner and directed neighborhood outreach.
