Arizona stay-at-home order expires Friday; gyms, sports leagues start up this week; RLG Founder Jordan Rose Comments

Gyms and swimming pools will be allowed to open Wednesday, and professional sports leagues will be allowed to begin practicing in Arizona after the state’s current stay-at-home order expires Friday, Gov. Doug Ducey said Tuesday.

Those activities will be able to take place with appropriate health precautions in place, he said.

But he called on Arizonans to continue social distancing even as he announced his order will expire Friday. Ducey has already tweaked pieces of the stay-at-home order, which he had previously extended to May 15.

The state allowed retailers to partially resume in-person service last week and restaurants could resume dine-in service on Monday.

Ducey said Tuesday, though, that the data show a downward trajectory of positive tests for COVID-19 and sufficient hospital capacity to handle cases.
