Phoenix, Ariz. (September 25, 2024) – Earlier today, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors authorized the intergovernmental agreements and funding proposal requests needed to begin renovation projects on three popular community spaces in the City of Mesa.
“I’m pleased to share that the Board has given the go-ahead on important improvement projects that will make visits to the City of Mesa’s Firefighter Memorial Park, Historical Museum, and i.d.e.a. Museum even more memorable,” said Vice Chairman Thomas Galvin, District 2.
Vice Chairman Galvin is contributing:
- $100,000 towards the cost of renovations for the City of Mesa Firefighter Memorial Park
- $50,000 towards replacing six A/C units for the Mesa Historical Museum’s auditorium renovation, and
- $200,000 towards various activities and interactive art exhibition updates at the Mesa i.d.e.a. Museum.
“I’m a strong advocate for investing in our local communities,” added Vice Chairman Galvin. “It’s critically important that Maricopa County residents have access to spaces that encourage them to be inquisitive, learn about their neighbors, and explore the wonders of the wider world.”
Vice Chairman Galvin allocated $350,000 of Maricopa County Community Solutions Funding to support these projects in his district. The county budget provides each supervisor a set amount of Community Solutions Funding each year to help advance Maricopa County’s strategic goals and provide clear public benefits for residents.
