Disclosure: Rose Law Group represents Hawes Crossing

Seven Mesa dairy farming families are one step closer to selling their land for a massive mixed-use development called Hawes Crossing in southeast Mesa. All that’s left is to convince the City Council of their plans.
The project received the go-ahead from the Planning and Zoning Board this week with a 3-2 vote, moving it forward to a City Council public hearing and vote later this year or early next year.
But several key players have significant concerns, mainly that building houses on the land will infringe on the future growth and success of one of Mesa’s biggest assets, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
“Barbecues and jet fields don’t mix,” said Councilman Kevin Thompson, who represents the district with Hawes Crossing and the airport.
