Ryan Hurley

Ryan Hurley is the head of the Renewable Energy Policy and Research Department at RLG and concentrates his practice in the areas of alternative energy, water law and land use and zoning. He began his legal career in Tucson at the law firm of Lewis and Roca where he assisted developers with all stages of development including acquisition of water rights and various regulatory compliance issues. Ryan has also worked with various utilities on issues ranging from ACC regulation and CEC line-siting, ADEQ and ADWR compliance to commercial water transactions. Mr. Hurley is a member of the Urban Land Institute where he recently served as a steering committee member for the Young Leaders Group. He is also a member of The American Planning Association and the Arizona Planning Association where he served as a legislative committee member. In addition, Ryan is a member of the American Solar Energy Society and a regular panelist with the Arizona Solar Power Society where he presents on the complexities of solar energy law ranging from utility-scale projects to rooftop Power Purchase Agreements. Mr. Hurley earned his bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, and his J.D. in 2005, from The University of Arizona.
