George Seitts is a Senior Project Manager/Energy Consultant for Rose Law Group pc. He began his career with United States Senator Barry Goldwater in Washington D.C., as a legislative and regulatory assistant for energy, environment, commerce, and transportation matters. Having been raised in Arizona he understands the ever-changing dynamics of the West and why it’s important to be engaged with the big issues of the day.
His career is highlighted by corporate positions with ConocoPhillips, Giant Industries, Inc., and InterNorth/Northern Natural Gas Company. He directed government affairs offices for these global, national, and regional energy development and transportation companies when it came to crude oil and natural gas production and pipeline, and downstream refining and marketing. Alaska Gas Pipeline, cleaner burning fuels nationally, MTBE removal from gasoline nationally, new technology for coal bed methane in Wyoming, and sustainable development were top priorities.
George has held positions combining his business management experience with government service at the Federal and state levels—focusing on traditional-and non-traditional (renewable) energy development and infrastructure reliability requiring compliance and market place actions. In the last several years he has served as Director of the Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office, overseeing programs for fiscal and program management, petroleum refining/transportation fuels supply, building science and efficiency, energy engineering, education and community outreach, and policy development particularly in the area of renewables and “Green” building design; and Director of the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures, administering regulatory compliance programs for air and fuel quality, petroleum supply reporting, device licensing, training, metrology, fuel dispensing, vapor recovery, propane, packaging and pricing, scales, taxis, and moving companies. As a former regulator he knows the rules and regulations process and what the outcomes may mean to consumers if proposals are adopted. With status quo, old ideas, and old politics being challenged at every turn, he takes an “ideas without boundaries” approach to problem-solving, often forging alliances with diverse advocacy groups.
George has been involved in a wide-range of civic and business activities, including Arthritis Foundation of Greater Southwest, International Cancer Advocacy Network, Arizona Food Marketing Alliance/City of Phoenix-Bag Central Station Coalition, Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry, League of Arizona Cities and Towns, Western States Petroleum Association, Italy-America Chamber of Commerce, Desert Foothills Land Trust, Arizona Petroleum Marketers Association, US-Mexico Border Energy Forum, Governor’s Energy Tribal Summit, Governor’s Essential Services Task Force, Governor’s Renewable Energy Working Group, and Arizona Climate Change Advisory Group.
